Abyss returned to action at Slammiversary 2008 after the X Division Championship match wearing a insane asylum costume with a new grey and black mask. He came to the ring attacking Petey Williams, Scott Steiner, and Rhaka Khan by performing a Black Hole Slam on each of them, and then carrying the injured Kaz out of the arena. . On the February 14 edition of iMPACT!, Abyss, who was scheduled for a match against Scott Steiner left the ring before the match, because of the beating he took at Against All Odds, but before leaving through the tunnel, Abyss, without showing his face, took off his mask. The official TNA web site had taken Abyss off the roster list. On the May 15th edition of iMPACT! Abyss showed a short video were he was locked in an insane asylum and doctors told the viewers that he was almost cured from his insanity and that he will be able to return home soon. On May 22nd edition of iMPACT! Abyss made another promo in the asylum. In a promo, Abyss says "I am Chris Parks but Abyss will always be in me!". He then says that it's time for Abyss to go home. On May 28th Abyss made a promo saying the doctors have finally cured him and that he will be released in 10 days,meaning that he will return on June 8th at Total Nonstop Action Wrestling's Pay-Per-View, Slammiversary 2008. Abyss has made it clear that he is comming home at Slammiversary after his promo on 5th June on Impact. At the end of the promo he went to the door and you could hear a buzz to open the door.
